  2. devised a manometer (pressure gauge)
  3. sensitive enough to measure oxygen uptake of
  4. respiring tissue. By measuring the rate that
  5. cells absorb oxygen under differing
  6. conditions, he was able to show that enzymes
  7. called cytochromes enable cells to process
  8. oxygen. Nobel Prize for Medicine 1931.
  9. Warburg also demonstrated that cancerous
  10. cells absorb less oxygen than normal cells.
